BAAM

I primarily work with stoneware clay using hand-building techniques, creating organic sculptures and vessels. My work is inspired by the forms and structures found in nature — by plants, stones, shells, corals, and underwater landscapes, as well as by the traces left behind through growth, time, and transformation.

I am especially fascinated by the small and often overlooked details of nature: mosses, lichens, delicate surface structures, and fragile forms that reveal their beauty when observed closely. These organic structures find their expression in the shapes, textures, and surfaces of my ceramic work.

My intention is not to reproduce nature realistically, but to translate its essence into my own ceramic language. Each piece begins with an initial idea but continues to evolve throughout the making process. I allow the material to guide me, giving the clay space to influence the development of form, structure, and surface.

The traces of hand-building, subtle imperfections, and the interplay between intention and chance are essential elements of my work. Each piece becomes a unique object with an organic, timeless, and quiet presence.

Biography

I am 49 years old and have been working in child and adolescent psychiatry for many years. In my professional life, I support people through challenging situations — a role that requires empathy, attentiveness, and presence.

Clay has been a part of my life since childhood. I repeatedly encountered ceramics and working with clay over the years, and I have always been fascinated by this natural material. About two years ago, I began to explore ceramics more intensively and consciously created more space for this creative path in my life. For the past year, I have been working in my own small studio, which provides me with a dedicated place for my artistic development and my ongoing exploration of the material.

Working with clay is a valuable balance to my professional life. It gives me a space for calm, focus, and a different kind of creative process. I especially enjoy experimenting, discovering new possibilities, and allowing ideas to develop through making.

With this exhibition, my first, I would like to share my work with others for the first time and offer an insight into this very personal artistic journey.
