Lena Niehusen

**Lena Niehusen** works across portrait, fashion, and documentary photography. At the core of her practice is the exploration of how personal identity becomes visible within the context of social structures. Her work is characterized by careful observation and an interplay between intimacy and distance.

Recurring themes in her artistic practice include identity, transience, and the human body. In one photographic series, she explored her grandmother’s experience with cancer, while for her graduation project she traveled to India to examine the subject of death from different cultural and personal perspectives. She is currently focusing on body image, identity, and self-perception in her ongoing artistic practice.
