Currently I work with color field paintings and Décollages made from old layered advertisement posters taken from the Streets of Hamburg. My Series of Décollages works with the idea of taking the advertisement created to specifically bring focus quickly to a topic and deliver message to a viewer and take that focus away by ripping through the recognizable layers until a collage without focus or specifcity is left. By that i want to keep the colorfulness and liveliness that adds often provide without the need to sell product or induce message.
Similar my Oil paintings try to mimic the general form of withered posters in the streets after their intended use of advertisement is gone and they are left to stay as colorings in the streets.
Biography
I am a 34 year old engineer who started to involve myself with art a couple of years ago. My focus and interest was pulled towards the first and second wave of new york abstract expressionists like Helene Frankenthaler, Jules Olitski and others because of the direct disposal of any established rules in painting. In contrast to my daily work as an engineer, i use art as a space without rules and boundaries.
