My oil painting technique is inspired by the old Dutch masters, such as Vermeer.
The path to the final motif in the painting begins with an idea that originates in my everyday life and surroundings.
I look around and discover motifs that are sometimes bright, sometimes dark. I particularly enjoy painting images that are distorted by raindrops on windowpanes. These are everyday situations that are often completely overlooked—unseen. Dark scenes that evoke a ghostly quality are also among my motifs. Since my oil paintings are very much about creating a dense atmosphere, I love depicting darkness.
With my paintings, I create a possibility for a different perception. I engage with my surroundings and transform them into art.
Technically, I am constantly developing my skills and usually paint in two layers of oil paint with a very high sensitivity to color nuances: color is emotion.
