BAAM

My paintings are psychographies. They weave together internal states and external terrain. Painting is a motion driven practice, a dance across the canvas that records the movements of the body. I work with raw pigments, oil and egg tempera, building each painting layer by layer without beginning from a fixed image. I think of this process as a form of terraforming. Each gesture reshapes the terrain and creates the conditions for the next.

I am drawn to abstraction because it can point without defining. I think of a painting as a compass rather than a map. It offers orientation while leaving room for the viewer to find their own way.

Much of my work begins with questions. I am interested in what I call the thin realm, the sense that another world exists alongside our own, brushing against it without fully revealing itself. I look for patterns that repeat across the body, the landscape and the mind. Branching roots resemble neural pathways. Waves move through water, weather and thought. I am equally interested in how human intervention builds upon and disrupts these living systems, leaving traces that redirect or overwrite organic forms. My paintings become psychographies of these encounters, where memory, perception and material converge without settling into a single explanation.

Biography

I am a Berlin-based visual artist whose work explores perception and our relationship with the natural world through abstract painting. Working with raw pigments, oil and egg tempera, I create large-scale paintings alongside smaller works on paper, allowing each piece to develop through an intuitive dialogue between body, material and surface. My work has been exhibited internationally, most recently at the Verein Berliner Künstler in Berlin and Galerie Grolman in Leipzig, following exhibitions and artist residencies in Mexico City and New York. My paintings are held in private collections in Europe and the United States. Alongside my artistic practice, I hold a PhD in American Literature and Culture, a background that continues to inform my way of seeing and making.
