Shiran Berkovitz

Shiran Berkovitz’s figurative graphite drawings investigate how inner landscapes of thought and emotion translate into physical form. Through the quiet intensity of graphite and restrained color, Berkovitz explores identity, persistent fixations, and the search for meaning. Grounded in art history and somatic practices, the work centers on emotional honesty. By depicting figures that blur the line between human and mannequin, the artist examines the tension between inner agency and external structures. These drawings hold space for paradoxes like softness and force, offering a necessary pause and asking what emerges when we finally allow silence to speak.

Shiran Berkovitz is a Berlin-based artist and educator working primarily in figurative graphite drawing. She holds an M.A. in Art History from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Berlin and Israel. Alongside her artistic practice, she has over a decade of experience teaching drawing and lecturing in art history. Her work is rooted in careful observation and a sustained engagement with the human figure.
