BAAM

My name is Sabine Dietrichkeit. I was born in Hamburg in 1977 and live, love, and work in Berlin. My work moves between sculpture and object, between function and free form. The starting point is clay, a material that embodies transformation and change. Recurring patterns and serial elements give rise to forms that appear both organic and constructed. Some sculptures invite interaction—they can be moved, opened, or reassembled—thus opening up a playful moment. The colored surfaces and contrasting structures emphasize rhythm and tension, while the clear volumes convey calm and balance. I am interested in the tension between simplicity and complexity, between familiarity and strangeness. This results in objects that can be read equally as vessels, bodies, or abstract forms, and always remain open to individual associations.
