BAAM

Rodrigo Torres

I paint mostly with acrylics and oil pastels, I don’t know in which exact movement belongs my work but I think it oscillates between neoexpressionism, cubism and abstract art. I’m still developing my own line and finding my self in the thieves of art.

I consume a lot of Latin American art. Not only paintings but books, street art, literature. I think is really important to understand and appreciate our roots, respect them but also questioning and reflecting about us as human beings.

However I don’t believe art should be something pleasant. I like to disturb, make the audience feel uncomfortable, because that’s the way reality works.

My work is an exploration to the question; how does fear and silence manifest themselves?

Biography

I’m Rodrigo, 24. Im an emerging artist from El Salvador. I moved to Germany on 2022 looking for better opportunities.

I diced to locked in on my art career back in 2024, I’ve applied to many art schools and after many rejections I’m happy to share that I’m enrolled for the winter semester 2026 of bildene Kunst in HfbK Hamburg.

My work explores injustice, ignorance and the ways fear and silence manifest themselves in society.

My mom is also an artist in El Salvador, shes my biggest inspiration.

Last year got the opportunity to exhibit my work in Barcelona, and this year in Amsterdam and Cologne.
