Paola Martínez Gámez

Paola Martinez is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work explores identity, cultural diversity, and the human experience. Born in El Paso and raised in Ciudad Juárez, she relocated to the U.S. in 2008 due to the Narco Drug War. She holds a BFA in Painting and a BA in Art History from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Working across oil, acrylic, watercolor, and large-scale spray-painted murals, Martinez is known for her, intimate connection with her subjects. Her art serves as a bridge between cultures, shedding light on untold narratives and marginalized voices. Drawing inspiration from her travels and life on the border, she examines the complexities of belonging, resilience, and shared humanity. Now based in Berlin, she continues to use visual storytelling as a means of fostering unity and understanding across cultural divides.

Biography

I am a Mexican multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin. I hold a BFA in Painting and a BA in Art History from the University of Texas at El Paso. My practice spans in oil painting, finger painting, watercolor (as well as other Mediums) and large-scale murals, exploring identity, migration, cultural diversity, memory, and the shared human experience. Recently, I presented a solo exhibition Grenzkunst at Region One Gallery in the Border of U.S.A. and México where I exhibited paintings centered on border identity and cultural dialogue. The exhibition attracted an audience of approximately 800 visitors and marked an important milestone in my career. Since then, I have continued developing public art projects throughout Germany, creating murals and expanding my practice in Berlin.
