My passion for threads comes from my grandmother Valentina, a defining figure in my childhood. I remember sitting beside her as she crafted exquisite lace using the bobbin lace technique while I did my homework. When her eyesight began to fade, I would help her draw the patterns, small acts that deeply shaped my creative process and still inspire me today.
Alongside this, I have spent decades collecting vintage photographs. I’m fascinated by their singularity and their unrepeatable nature, especially since the negatives are so rare. Perhaps because I’ve always felt somewhat detached from my own roots, I find joy in reviving these forgotten images with new colors, new life, as if healing their own sense of disconnection. I love rescuing them from damp cellars and dusty flea-market boxes, places where they were destined to disappear, and giving them to new hands that will cherish their memory, even without knowing who they once were.
