BAAM

My work explores desire as an ambivalent force between pleasure and threat, intimacy and social structures, the personal and the political. Through ceramic sculptures combined with textiles, metal, rubber, and fiberglass, I examine the materiality of desire and its contradictions, using textures and forms that evoke softness and hardness, attraction and resistance. The materials I use reflect aspects of sexuality that interest me; sometimes abstract, sometimes directly linked to erotic imagery or kink practices. From a queer and inclusive perspective, my work questions the socially imposed roles of body and sexuality and explores the political dimension of desiring bodies, as well as sexuality’s potential to challenge normative systems.
