What makes a place our home? What do we gain from it and what does it take from us? Is it a gain or a loss?
The themes of space and landscape, migration and adaptation, and nostalgia and its overcoming run through my work. The Topografika series sheds light on these aspects using the technique of drawing on maps. The map itself becomes a body: a person blends into the space, is projected onto it and superimposed, thereby transforming the landscape. The space grows through the person, appearing under the skin. Sometimes, the lines of the body echo the geometry of roads, rivers or docks, while at other times they actively resist this order.
