When talking about my works of art, I always refer to landscapes or places. For me, painting feels like mixing together impressions of places I’ve been to in a very intuitive way. Through this process, I create new landscapes that are shaped by my own personal experiences and memories. Rather than depicting a specific location, my paintings combine fragments of different places into imagined environments that feel both familiar and unknown.
Nature’s countless colors and surface properties inspire me to work with different media such as acrylics, oil, charcoal, and sand. I enjoy experimenting with these materials because each of them adds its own texture and character to the painting. By combining smooth and rough surfaces, I create the same tension in my paintings as a sleek, polished rock in the rough, harsh desert. I am interested in the balance between calm and movement, softness and strength, and in how landscapes can reflect personal experiences.
Biography
After studying graphic design, I started painting as a way to work without the limits of design. While design is often about structure and clear decisions, painting allows me to work more intuitively and explore my own ideas.
My paintings have been shown in a group exhibition at the temporary project space TBD in Hamburg-Altona and in a solo exhibition at the pop-up space of the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft.
