My name is Manuel Moncayo (b. 1989, Guadalajara, Mexico). I am a photographer living between Berlin and Potsdam, Germany, whose practice also encompasses writing, filmmaking, performance and curation.
Since childhood, I have been drawn to documenting my surroundings. What began as family trips filmed on a video camera became a lifelong diary, which I have shared online since 2013 through photographs and texts. My work centres on personal experience, gay identity, nature and light. More recently, I have expanded my practice through long-form writing and video.
My name is Manuel Moncayo (b. 1989, Guadalajara, Mexico). I work as a photographer, alongside performance, curation, and writing. I live between Berlin and Potsdam in Germany.
I have been documenting my surroundings since childhood, beginning with family road trips filmed on a video camera my parents gave me. At 17, I started keeping a diary, which since 2013 I have shared online as a mix of photographs and texts. This forms the foundation of my practice.
My work has become a record of my life, shaped by my interest in photographing gay men and my connection to nature and light. Over time, I have developed a quieter awareness of my surroundings and an appreciation for landscapes. Recently, I have been working with longer texts and video, expanding into writing and filmmaking.
