Currently based in Berlin, Paz‘ works in a continuous process parallel to the self: to time, experience, and internal states of attention. She resists the contemporary pressure to produce work in series, or repeating motives. Rather than asking to be read categorically, the work invites a different mode of absorption: to be encountered as thoughts that organically shift and transform: or, a life in motion. Often depicting domestic scenes, leisure, and other autobiographical elements the paintings are physical searches to recurring questions- inviting awareness, or finding understanding or closure. Themes of belonging, physical wellness, spirituality and mental health have been important subjects in the last 5 years.
Biography
Born in Santiago, Chile, and shaped by a nomadic upbringing across Nigeria, Argentina, Venezuela, Egypt, Russia, Italy, Mexico and the United States, Paz approaches art-making as both a stabilizing force and a space of improvisational freedom: practice as a site of knowledge. Her background as an athlete informs her understanding of painting as a bodily discipline—one that balances preparation and structure together with intuition and spontaneity. Each artwork becomes a field where gesture, fatigue, curiosity, and precision can coexist.
