I paint large canvasses using chalk paint, vinyl and acrylic. For this series called “Spirits” I took unfinished paintings of my father in law who passed away recently and overpainted them. I printed huge monochromatic shapes upon that. These shapes seem to have come to life, they seem to change places and move. They are full of “Spirit” in a multiple sense: they contain the Spirit of my father in law, of myself, of the colour and of the recipient. Colour speaks for itself, so there is a vivid communication between all spirits included. My paintings use strong colour to waken up the people who live with it, to remind them of their original energy and fill them up with it. The way the printed areas overlay each other and the different colours interact with each other, the same way all our involved spirits interact, empower each other, leave their traces and thus have an impact on their recipients.
