Lerke Nennemann is a German artist currently studying Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB – Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig).
Her artistic practice explores the relationships between color, form, proportion, material, and process. Working across painting and installation, she is interested in how intuitive decision-making, experimentation, and material properties shape the development of a work. Rather than beginning with a fixed outcome, her works often emerge through testing, repetition, transformation, and chance.
At the core of her practice is an open and process-oriented approach. Materials such as canvas, paper, fabric, foil, or styrofoam are not merely supports but active participants that influence the direction of the work. Through the interaction of abstraction, color, and material, she seeks to create atmospheres that evoke emotion, memory, and sensory experience without prescribing a single interpretation.
Her work includes large-scale abstract paintings, works on paper, and material-based installations that investigate the boundaries between image, object, and process.
