BAAM

In my Berlin studio I create analog, digital and mixed-media collages that captivate, irritate, and fascinate with their strong visual messages. I love every part of the process, starting with the search for suitable image material, the complicated cutting, tearing, or folding, the composing and arranging. The experimental process is inspired by surprisingly seen objects, colors, and materials. On the one hand, my collages address social problems and, on the other, the combination of exciting motifs, materials and found objects creates a dynamic that allows the viewer to immerse themselves in a world of their own.

Melanie Giovanna Landro, born in 1969 with Italian/German roots, lives and works in Berlin. Analogue collages have fascinated her since childhood because they radically and uncompromisingly turn reality upside down. As a trained advertising executive, mediating between people and brands is in her blood. She works with analogue, digital and mixed media collages and combines technical precision with a contemporary, often surrealistic style, creating surprising scenes. Her works invite reflection on social issues and stimulate dialogue. Despite sometimes complex themes, her art always conveys hope and invites the viewer to discover their own stories in the images.
