I try to capture things I find interesting. I experiment a lot. Many of my photographs happen by chance, following an idea, tying it out many times, sometimes it works, many times it does not. Sometimes I am proud of the photograph, many times I am not.
Why black and white? It is raw and focused. In my opinion colour often loses focus. I think, there is to much to look at, to much information for the eye and at times also for the camera.

Biography

Jonah Vogl.
25 Years old.
Studying Cultural Studies in Lüneburg.
Currently based in Lüneburg and Hamburg.

Photography has been a part of my life for quite some time now and HAAM#4 is the first time my work is shown at an exhibition.

I bought my first own camera around four years ago.
Photographed a lot and through experimentation I quickly fell in love with unusual perspectives, industrial, architecture and minimalist photography.

In 2024, “WATCH! WATCH! WATCH! HENRI CARTIER-BRESSON”, an exhibition at Bucerius Kunst Forum inspired me in many ways and it changed the way I take pictures today.
I started to incorporate and experiment with long exposures and movement. I also started to really fall in love with black and white photography and over all being more comfortable photographing people.

In 2025 I did an entire experimental short film using long exposure time-lapse photography.
