In this work, I explore colour and basic organic forms to create whimsical settings and atmospheres that border between familiarity and excess. A sensory illusion that begins to repeat itself no matter where you look, fun that doesn’t go away like in a case of visual snow syndrome.
Dariya Kassybayeva is a Berlin-based painter born and raised in Kazakhstan, working in acrylic on canvas, photography, and music production. Alongside her art practice, she works as a neuroscientist researching psychedelic drugs and the origin of hallucinations.
