BAAM

Actually, I focus much on the urban landscape. For me, houses are nothing more than imitations of caves built by humans, a refurbished substitute for real cave dwellings. Houses are artificial rocks, parts of a pseudo-mountaineous landscape. The house-rock symbiosis is a reflection of the supposed opposites ‒ artificial vs natural landscape ‒ creating a connection between the two habitats.

Part of the project are the still lifes with vacuum cleaners. Everyone knows vacuum cleaners; most of us use them constantly, some daily at work; they are true artefacts of modernity. They come in the most futuristic designs and always look like an expensive sports car or an extraterrestrial spaceship, with a shiny surface and aerodynamic shapes. The appliance spruces up our living space, then it’s put aside and no longer given any attention. I’m giving it a chance.
