In my paintings, I explore unstable pictorial spaces between control, chance and reorganization.
Using alcohol ink as a primary medium alongside acrylic interventions, I create multilayered compositions in which organic forms, transparent layers and geometric structures intersect and continuously reorganize themselves.
Color is not only applied, but also dissolved, shifted and partially removed. Within these open pictorial spaces, associations, figures or microscopic worlds can emerge without being clearly defined.
I’m mainly interested in a slower way of seeing — images that do not reveal themselves completely at first glance.
Benjamin Stohlmann (born 1981, Berlin) is a Berlin-based artist working with alcohol-based inks, acrylic markers and acrylic paints on mineral stone paper. His works combine layered color fields with precise graphic details, exploring a dialog between structured forms and organic movement.
The current series includes medium and large-scale works. He lives and works in Berlin and recently presented a solo exhibition at Mulackei.
