Artist Statement

My work explores the threshold where possibility begins to take form—where perception settles for a moment while other possibilities remain just beyond certainty.

A temporary loss of vision profoundly changed my understanding of perception. Experiencing the world through inverted images revealed that reality is not simply seen but continuously constructed. This experience became the starting point for an ongoing artistic inquiry into how seemingly stable realities emerge from countless possibilities of seeing and interpreting.

Working with oil painting, relief, and mixed media, I create situations in which the boundaries between image, object, and space become unstable. By introducing moments of uncertainty, I invite perception to reorganize into a new temporary stability. My interest lies not in uncertainty itself, but in the fragile moment when multiple possibilities begin to settle into a coherent experience of reality.

Rather than illustrating philosophical ideas, I seek to create visual experiences that allow viewers to inhabit this threshold themselves—to experience the continuous negotiation between possibility and structure, openness and stability.

Reality is not fixed.

Reality may be nothing more than the temporary stabilization of perception within a field of possibilities.

Biography

Artist Bio

I was born in Darmstadt, Germany, in 1973 and now live and work in Hamburg. My path to becoming an artist has been shaped by experiences across different disciplines, cultures, and stages of life. Before fully dedicating myself to my artistic practice, I completed an MBA in Business, lived in Europe, the United States, and Asia, and became a mother. These experiences have broadened my perspective and continue to influence the way I observe, question, and interpret the world around me.

Art has accompanied me for as long as I can remember—not simply as a form of expression, but as a way of investigating how reality is perceived. I studied painting for several years at the School of Painting and Graphic Arts under Christian Friedmeyer while developing my independent artistic practice.

Today, I work primarily with oil painting, relief, and mixed media. My work explores moments in which the boundaries between image, object, and space become unstable, inviting viewers to question what appears certain and to reconsider how moments of instability gradually settle into a temporary experience of reality.
