My paintings explore the space between abstraction and figuration through simplified figures and carefully composed scenes. Influenced by my background in architecture, I work with structure, composition, color and atmosphere to create images that feel both familiar and open to interpretation. Color becomes a way to shape emotion, distance, and connection within the painting. I am interested in quiet tension and ambiguous moments that invite slower looking and personal reflection.
Anne-Renske is a Dutch painter based in Berlin with a background in architecture. Her figurative works from 2024-2025 develop a distinct visual language between abstraction and representation. Simplified, invented figures appear within carefully constructed compositions, where color functions as both an emotional and spatial force.
Informed by architectural thinking, her paintings balance clarity and reduction with subtle, often ambiguous states of presence, distance, and tension.
