My medium is painting and drawing. I use bold colors, incorporating abstract, graphic shapes, lines, and forms. These elements interact dynamically to create a strong overall composition. I also enjoy including childlike elements in my work, aiming to evoke a sense of humor and lightness.
Materials: acrylics, gouache, watercolor, wax pastels, colored pencils, Posca pens, Molotow markers, ink, graphite pencils, pastels, fineliners, oil pastels.
I love colors, textures, and composition, as well as materiality, haptics, and tactility. I enjoy looking at images and creating my own — works that are compelling in their content and form a strong overall composition. I work with contrasts: strong colors, fine lines, gradients, structural lines, gradients, bold wax-pastel strokes, and negative and positive shapes.
My artistic practice and process is highly playful. I avoid putting myself under pressure, instead fostering a playful state of flow. Anything goes. I work on several paintings simultaneously, switching between them. My sketchbooks are essential companions and a vital repository of experiments and ideas; I regularly revisit them to incorporate specific elements into large-scale paintings.
Biography
I am a trained artist (University of the Arts, Bremen & UNITEC, Auckland (NZ)) living and working in Berlin as a freelance painter, illustrator and graphic recorder.
