Amber Cannings was born in Southampton in 1996 and lives and works in Berlin. She graduated with a first-class degree in Fine Art at Loughborough University, where she also completed a year of study at the Universidad de Zaragoza in Spain.
Cannings’ work is centered around space and place, she takes energy from her surroundings and represents not just the way things look, but the essence of them. It offers a window into her own lived experience and covers themes of nostalgia, space, and memory. Cannings’ work has featured in several exhibitions in the UK and Germany, including the Erster Erster exhibition, Knospen and Beton, Berlin (2025), and Surface Spotlight, Nottingham (2019). She is the recipient of the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize for Best Upcoming Artist (2020).
