I often start with a sketch, develop the idea digitally and then bring it back into the physical world through screen printing and painting. My work moves between illustration, graphic design and a more street-inspired visual language. Pastel colors, glitter, hand-drawn elements and bold lettering all have their place in it.
My work deals with mental struggles and the pressure to constantly improve, fix or overcome them. I am interested in what happens when feelings are not treated as problems that need an immediate solution, but as something that can simply be there. This is also a response the endless promise that the right book, routine or mindset will finally make everything better.
I want my work to create a space where people can feel seen, recognise themselves and maybe start a conversation. The feedback I receive from visitors often tells me that this is exactly what they see in the work. At art markets, some of my favorite compliments come from psychologists – and it honestly feels like the best award!
Biography
My name is Hanna (she/her). I started drawing in 2021 after getting an iPad and Procreate and somehow learned to draw backwards: digital first, paper later. Since then, I have been working with illustration, posters, stickers, T-shirts and, more recently, screen printing.
I sell some of my work at Kultur&Gut, where my “Spazieren gehen Ultras” T-shirts are currently among the bestsellers. At HAAM, I will show a selection of screen prints and canvas works, including a piece that received the Audience Award at this year’s altonale “Kunst im Schaufenster”.
My work deals with mental struggles and feelings that are often treated as inconvenient or unwanted. I like to approach these topics with sarcasm, affection and pastel colors.
