I like contrasts. Life is full of contradictions. Like yin and yang, my paintings combine these opposites into an overall picture. The rapid application of paint with the spray can and the slow pace when painting with the brush and oil colors. Viewed from a certain perspective, our lives are full of contrasts and contradictions. This view is based on the recognition that none of us is perfect, but that we all make mistakes. Sometimes a fire blazes in me and at the same time I also enjoy the stillness of slowness. All this energy is transferred to my works.
Nicholas Ganz was born in the Ruhr city of Essen. He now works as a visual artist and author in Berlin.
He began spraying his first graffiti on house walls in 1994. Just a few years after his first street art pictures, he began to develop further and try out new techniques.
Today, Nicholas combines street art techniques with classical painting and his works are based on the reality of people’s lives or deal with philosophical or political analyses. He likes to tell stories and reflect his own world of thought in his paintings.
