By using one of photography’s earliest printing processes, I create a dialogue between historical technique and contemporary concerns. The handmade nature of each print —coated, exposed, and developed individually— introduces chance and material nuance into the image. My art is the result of the constant research of stability, durability and unicity, as well as the rejection of inmediacy and obsolescence. Every work of mine is unique, as the technique used do not allow identical reproductions, and by the nature of the nobel materials in use, every artwork is also extremely archival.
I’m Berner Panti Quispe, visual artist born in Cusco-Perù and raised in Italy, specialized in historic platinum-palladium printing process and image gilding. My practice emphasizes tonal richness, permanence, and a hands-on approach to image-making that bridges 19th-century techniques with modern sensibilities. My works are inspired by the constant research of long lasting memories and by the strong rejection of inmediacy and obsolescence.
