I’ve come to see art as a technology for training our ability to see better, not sharper vision, but heightened perception: noticing what would otherwise go unseen and encountering the familiar in entirely new ways. One does not look at art so much as through it. The artwork is not the thing it depicts but a hyper-object, an interface or conduit that lets us perceive reality from perspectives otherwise inaccessible.
Joshua Hoskins grew up in southern California, just south of Los Angeles. He attended art school at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he received a Bachelors in Fine Art. His studio is located in Berlin, Germany.
