Julia Lidou is a German-born Greek painter whose work explores emotional and intangible states through painting. After beginning her creative career as a Special Effects Make-up Artist and Wig Maker specializing in hyperrealistic skin and prosthetics, she returned to oil painting after moving to Berlin in 2019. Her work focuses on vulnerability, emotional overwhelm, and the female experience within patriarchal structures, reclaiming agency over representations of the female form. Lidou’s paintings also address themes of self-censorship, identity, and self-acceptance. Combining emotional depth with conceptual clarity, her practice navigates the tension between inner experience and societal expectation.
