BAAM#08 broke all records!
The 8th Berlin Affordable Art Market was the art highlight of November and an important contribution to „Berlin ist Kultur“.
Berlin – 25.11.2024 – A weekend full of creativity, outstanding art and successful sales
Last weekend, Arena Berlin transformed into a vibrant art venue. The 8th edition of the Berlin Affordable Art Market -BAAM#08 broke all previous records and attracted 6,000 art lovers who immersed themselves in a world of sophisticated contemporary art with over 2,200 works by undiscovered local art talents. BAAM has once again succeeded in capturing the creative zeitgeist of Berlin with its innovative art event and has become a mirror of the current generation of Berlin artists.
Over 235 selected, mostly Berlin-based artists presented their works from a wide variety of genres. Visitors drifted through the art-filled rooms of the Arena Market, music from the turntable and the newly developed Art Talks with guest speakers from the art scene rounded off this unique art experience. Buyers took their favorite pictures from the walls themselves, inspected and touched objects, examined works together, brought them to the cash desk and took them straight home. The response was overwhelming – 800 works of art found new owners during the weekend. The BAAM founders, Sofia Nordmann and José Contreras Aguad, were delighted:
“We are over the moon! Despite the freezing cold and the rain, the rooms were packed with art lovers who celebrated art and life with us, made generous purchases and supported the local art scene.”
Following the overwhelming success of BAAM#08, the Berlin Affordable Art Market has become an integral part of Berlin’s cultural scene. The combination of high-quality, affordable art, a lively, creative atmosphere, live music and the opportunity to get to know exhibiting artists in person makes BAAM an interactive and special art event in Berlin. At the same time, BAAM has also become an important platform for aspiring artists to network, become more visible and thus more economically independent.
In view of the great, ever-growing success of the Berlin Affordable Art Market, it has become clear that Berlin needs exactly these visions and initiatives, as they have now been implemented for the 8th time with a lot of energy by Sofia and José. BAAM#08 has proven that there is a great demand for sophisticated, affordable contemporary art. But it is also clear that the Berlin art scene lives from such creative impulses and this endless commitment to art and can thus only survive in the future because of it! “Berlin ist Kultur!”
