BAAM#08 – The Berlin Affordable Art Market

opens its doors for the 8th time at Arena Market Berlin from November 22nd – 24th.
With its unique concept, it has now become Berlin’s most important platform to promote undiscovered art talents!

The Berlin Affordable Art Market – BAAM#08 is represented by a special symbol! Simply turn the 8 and the result is infinity: ထ.
This symbol stands for the infinite commitment of BAAM founders, Sofia Nordmann and José Contreras Aguad, to art. With their unconventional BAAM concept, they are tirelessly committed to supporting up-coming artistic talent, promoting their artistic work and helping artists achieve economic independence. BAAM’s mission is not only to be Berlin’s largest innovative art market for undiscovered talent, but to fundamentally change the traditional art market. With their collaborative vision, the BAAM founders are focusing on new ways of marketing art in order to make art accessible to everyone, to create a dynamic in which the art market is understood as a free, solidarity-based space. “We don’t just want to show art, we want to make it tangible – to create a free and open atmosphere that promotes artists and emphasizes their artistic independence. That’s a must in times like these!” say Sofia and José.
A weekend for art and its makers BAAM is not just an art fair, but a festival of art. Around 200 artists, carefully selected by a team of curators, actively participate in the organization and realization of the Berlin Affordable Art Market. They are not represented anonymously by galleries, but are on site, engaging directly with the public and showing their works in a completely new, interactive setting.
BAAM offers a unique concept: all exhibited artworks are directly available for visitors to touch, take away, and purchase – just like in a self-service store. Art lovers can take the works directly from the tables and walls and purchase them at the cash desk. As soon as a work is sold, it is replaced by a new one. Thus BAAM#08 becomes a constantly renewing vernissage in which both the artists and the public actively contribute to shaping the art market.
An open art platform for networking with fair prices for exceptional art In this open and creative atmosphere artists and art enthusiasts meet, exchange ideas, and inspire each other. With the aim of making undiscovered talents visible, BAAM not only offers a sales platform, but also the opportunity to network. The artists are encouraged to present themselves thereby increasing their chances of commercial success. BAAM’s collaborative approach is reflected not only in the open design of the market, but also in the prices of the high-quality artworks and the fair margins for the exhibiting artists, thus offering a transparent and accessible alternative to the traditional art market. The impressive visitor numbers -BAAM#07 in June 2024 had 5,000 visitors- and the strong presence on social media -almost 20,000 followers- has shown that the Berlin Affordable Art Market has become indispensable as a platform for Berlin artists and art enthusiasts.

“Affordable, high-quality art for everyone – that’s BAAM!”, say Sofia and José, tireless in their mission for a free and solidarity-based art market.
