BAAM

I found myself drawn to the image of chairs — chairs of all shapes, colours and sizes. In Berlin it is common to find old chairs on the streets, abandoned by their previous owners and waiting for a new home. When you look at a chair, you feel the presence of a human being. You wonder who could have been sitting there just a moment ago. It seems to carry their memories. My paintings are “rooms” that exist between the real and imaginary, where objects float in a sea of abstract colours and forms. Each object is a character with its own emotional signature. A chair may suggest a sense of waiting, boxes psychological clutter, chest drawer secrets, windows a longing for the outside world. These rooms are not just a peek into the painter’s emotional landscape, but also a mirror in which we can watch ourselves.
