I’m Florian Bong Kil Grosse, a German photographer of Korean descent, working between Berlin and Seoul. My practice centers on the careful observation and representation of urban spaces and the nuanced dynamics of human interaction within them. Through photography, I explore the subtle choreography of everyday life, often focusing on anonymous figures in public or semi-public settings.
In my recent work, I turn to nature on Jeju Island, South Korea. What emerges is less a literal depiction than a vision of a place where the human figure is rarely visible, yet often tangible. Natural forms, shown in close detail, recall the human, not only in their appearance, but also in their function.
